Healing From the Past Can Change Your Future

Understand how trauma may still affect your life & begin moving beyond it

Trauma Recovery & Healing

How does trauma or PTSD affect your daily functioning?
In trauma therapy, you may hear the terms “Big T” and “Little T” trauma.

“Big T” trauma involves life-threatening or deeply distressing experiences and may lead to PTSD. Symptoms can include flashbacks, nightmares, hypervigilance, avoidance, emotional overwhelm, difficulty relaxing, anger, guilt, or persistent worry.

“Little T” trauma may not be life-threatening, but experiences such as bullying, rejection, relationship loss, or other painful events can still leave lasting feelings of anxiety, shame, hurt, or insecurity.

These experiences can continue to affect relationships, parenting, work, and the way you feel about yourself.

What Trauma Therapy Looks Like Here

As a counselor for over 30 years, I’ve helped many people find freedom from the effects of trauma.

In a compassionate, non-judgmental environment, we’ll begin with practical strategies to help you feel calmer and more in control. From there, we can process trauma using approaches such as:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Holographic Memory Resolution (HMR)
  • Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS or “Parts” work)
  • Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy

Because everyone is different, we’ll explore the approaches that feel most comfortable and effective for you. The choice is always yours.

The Goal of Therapy

The goal of therapy is not simply symptom reduction for the moment. It's meaningful change that helps you regain safety, steadiness, and the ability to live more comfortably, freely, and confidently.

Though it's not always a fun or easy process, many people have found therapy to be an adventure that has added immensely to their lives.

Are you ready to start the adventure?

If you live in Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, AZ, or the surrounding areas, I am available to meet in person. Using telehealth, I also serve clients virtually throughout Illinois and Arizona.
